*crows in triumph* Ha! See? I KNEW you would give in to the siren call of free verse one day. And what a gorgeous poem to use it on! It reminds me of the writing of Mary Oliver, one of my all-time favorite poets.

“Your heart knows the lyrics to the song the bird is singing

Your heart knows as it never knew before

Simply to be and to observe is the adventure of a lifetime

I was here, I saw the flowers, I walked on”

Spring, whenever it finally decides to deign us with her presence (it’s supposed to be April showers, not April blizzards dang it!) has a way of forcibly throwing us back into action. And, how can we not move, venture outside and frolic among the cherry blossoms and sunshine after half a year of dreariness? You describe that feeling of potential and glee perfectly in your poem! What a treat to read, thank you!
